20161223 Amaryllis Commits Suicide

My mother reports that sometime in the night the amaryllis growing by the sink jumped off and landing in the sink, broke it’s neck.

It had budded into four heads and the leaves set after the stalks were almost half a meter high. Next year it needs to be in a different pot and I happen to have one which is no longer occupied. Sounds like a Christmas gift to me. I think I’ll even dump out the dirt so she can start with fresh, maybe, it’s not very old dirt. Only one plant ever used it and it died of neglect. It’s all easier done than said. The amaryllis was in it’s original plastic pot. This new one should be heavy enough to keep it from jumping again for a few years.

I’ll dump the dirt into a large lunch bag, wash the pot, put them both in a recycled box and wrap it with Sunday comics. I collect Sunday comics for wrapping all year.
