Busy Day but Lesson two
Today was a doctors visit followed by shoveling snow but I still manager to get some pictures, prepare lesson two and play with one shot by my friend Jeff Quist.
My friend Jay
Is Jay real or just a figment of my imagination, a proxy character to address my lessons to? It does’t matter, either way I’m still going to write this blog. So how about it Jay, did you follow my instructions? Did you ponder the question what is a camera for? Is there a camera in your pocket right now? Have you taken a bunch of photos? Did you try using the rule of thirds? That camera in your pocket all the time is an important step.
Today’s work
Method
When I capture the image I just see. Seeing can be facilitated by many different means. Pretending I’m a Martian Anthropologist is one easy way to see. I also like to look at things from multiple points of view or conversely seeing the same old thing with a new perspective. Multiple points of view and multiple perspectives. They are just habits which I have intentionally cultivated over years.
A discovery of another kind
When I process an image in Lightroom, there are other alternatives, I just play. I never know what I will discover. By pushing the color temp from 5,050 to 20,570 I discovered a sepia effect which I find nostalgic.

Jeff posted this on FaceBook and gave me permission to play with it.
Conclusion
Take lots of photos of things that catch your eye. Use composition to highlight the subject of your interest. Use a tool like Lightroom to further refine your vision. Keep thinking about what a camera is for.
